In this paper, we analyze an unreliable queueing system consisting of an infinite buffer and two heterogeneous servers. The main server (server 1) is unreliable, while the server 2 is considered as the reserve server and is assumed to be absolutely reliable. The service times have the PH-type (Phase-type) distribution. If both servers are able to provide the service, they serve a customer independently of each other. The service of a customer is completed when his/her service by any of two servers is finished. After the service completion, both servers immediately start the service of the next customer, if he/she presents in the system. If the system is idle, the servers wait for arrival of the new customer. The input flow is described by the BMAP (Batch Markovian Arrival Process). Breakdowns arrive to the server 1 according to a MAP (Markovian Arrival Process). After breakdown occurrence, repair of the server starts. The repair time also has the PH-type (Phase-type) distribution. The customers, which meet the servers busy upon arrival, join a buffer. They will be picked up for the service according to the First-In-First-Out discipline. The customers arrived at the same batch are picked up for the service in random order. If a customer arriving from outside or from a buffer sees only server 2 ready for service while the server 1 is under repair, only server 2 starts the service of this customer. But if server 1 is repaired before service completion of this customer, server 1 immediately begins the service of this customer. For this model, we derive ergodicity condition, calculate the key performance measures of the system and derive an expression for the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the sojourn time distribution of an arbitrary customer.

We consider an unreliable single-server queueing system with a reserve (back-up) server which is appropriate for modeling, e.g., the hybrid communication systems having the atmospheric optic channel (FSO-Free Space Optics) and standby radio channel IEEE 802.11n. We assume that the main server of the system (optic channel, server 1) is unreliable while the reserve server (radio channel, server 2) is absolutely reliable. It is assumed that the service time on the server 1 is essentially smaller than the service time on the server 2. If the server 1 fails during the service of a customer, the customer immediately occupies the reserve server. After failure occurence, the server 1 immediately goes to repair. When the repair period of the server 1 ends and the customer is served by the server 2, the customer immediately moves to the server 1. We consider exponential distributions of all random variables describing the operation of the system. This assumption allows to minimize the use of matrix-geometric technique and provide more or less simple analytical analysis of the system. We derive ergodicity condition and determine the stationary distribution of the Markov chain describing the process of the system states using the generating functions and roots methods, calculate some key performance measures and derive an expression for the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the sojourn time distribution of an arbitrary customer. Illustrative numerical results are presented.

Journal of Applied Spectroscopy v.78, #5, 2011 Resonant light-scattering spectra of molecules with double-well vibrational potentials by V. A. Morozov; Yu. M. Dubina (624-630). Examples of excitation spectra lines for resonant Rayleigh and Raman scattering by model molecules with a double-well potential in a vibrational subsystem in both the ground and excited states are calculated based on numerical solutions of a stationary Schrodinger equation for a particle in a double-well potential. The obtained results demonstrate that the given formalism can be used, e.g., to establish the mechanism for transferring the proton of an intramolecular H-bond in the excited molecular electronic state upon monochromatic irradiation using resonant light-scattering spectroscopic data. Abstract—This paper discusses the basic concepts of cognitive semantics that were described in [14]. These use the thesis that human cognitive structures and mechanisms substantially depend on sensory mechanisms, as well as physical and social experience. The possibilities of the application of these concepts for solving the problems of artificial intelligence are considered.

A method for the rapid separate measurement of the vectors of jointly acting harmonic signals using frequencydependent sampling and summation of the samples is considered. A theoretical justification of the method is given and the measurement errors and the possibility of realizing the method in practice are discussed.

Аннотация
We give a brief survey of the basic notions of the theory of complex networks and various models of activity spreading in networks. We consider the role of random graph theory for the study of complex networks, describe small world and scale-free networks, activity spreading models in social networks, percolation processes, the concept of self-organized criticality, and two versions of its formalization: cellular automata and the chip firing game. We note the common elements of all considered models.

In order to measure aqueous solution concentration, radio frequency resonator sensors based on sections of a long line are proposed: two-conductor, coaxial and screened with a U-shaped inner conductor. Specific sensor structural features and the contents of their radio frequency measuring devices are described. Results are provided for experimental confirmation of the efficiency of these sensors for measuring the concentration of various two-component liquids with losses.

At the plant level, a smart grid unifies power grids, consumers and generating facilities in a single automated system which enables real-time tracking and monitoring the regimes of all participants. It responds automatically to the changes of all parameters in the power grid and maintains no-break power with maximum benefits and lower human involvement. The most effective control can be attained in smart grids by using intelligent agents. Their functionalities should be based on intelligent control algorithms with predictive models featuring high-precision treatment of process knowledge and adaptive learning. This chapter offers a concept of developing an intelligent multi-agent system that maintains stability of Russia’s Smart Grid incorporating an active analytical network (AAN) and new algorithms to determine the degree of the system’s stability by using Gramians.

This chapter discusses intelligent design techniques for predictive identification models of nonlinear dynamic plants. The techniques are based on inductive learning, i.e., on knowledge retrieval from process data. An identification method named associative search is presented. It is based on data mining tech- niques and enables the use of all available process data development in the iden- tification model design. Process situations resembling the current one in the sense of close process variable values are being selected from the process history; such situations are called associations. Process data clustering improves the computing speed and saves computational resources.
