Entropy has been widely referred to as a measure of biological order. The validity of this notion is discussed in conjunction with its relation to the spontaneous creation of order. Information theory offers a quantitative method for characterization of order, however, it is not fundamentally connected to formalisms of irreversible thermodynamics, and it is severely limited because the meaning and value of the information is neglected (Smith, 1975). The paper presents an entropy approach to quantitative de-scription of living matter development as a process of gathering information. The presentation is accom-panied by a thorough analysis of related themes of (Pashchenko, 2001, 2007) relating to the notion of entropy and some attempts of its generalizations.

Nowadays, a cybersecurity assessment is at the core of the safety and security assurance for all of software and hardware complexes. For instrumentation and control systems of nuclear facilities, the availability is proved to be the most important in the whole confidentiality, integrity, and availability triad representing cybersecurity. However, no any relevant method for the industrial control system availability evaluation is at hand now. The article presents a novel approach for the availability assessment by upper bound delay estimation with the help of a theory of deterministic queuing systems Network calculus. As an example of applying proposed approach, the availability of IntServ model under internal insider’s and external denial-of-service cyberattacks is investigated; in particular, the dependences of the maximum delay on arrival flow and server parameters are revealed. For utilizing the approach with empirical data, a technique for a linear service curve calculation, similar to a linear arrival curve regression, is proposed.

A formal method for asset classifying by cyber security is provided. The problem is solved in the frame of a clustering problem. The data structure and content are specified. A classification algorithm for systems with arbitrary number of subsystems is provided.

The paper is devoted to a methodology oriented to eliciting professional skills of a shift of human-operators of a technological plant by applying system identification techniques. Within the frameworks, the aim is to derive an input/output model that might reflect the actual level of collective professional competences and skills. Deriving the required input/output model is based on applying such a kind of the “proxy”, that is indirect, variables as the time. Namely, there is applied the time that is needed to the shift of human-operators to make a decision on the plant process behavior using the information provided by information sources distributed over an information-and-control board, such as, say, group view displays (GVD) or, generically, within a total control room. In turn, these times are proposed to be fixed by use of eye trackers. Obtained in such a manner and calculated by use of data of observation of actual algorithm of collective performance of an experienced human-operator shift, the model characteristics represent a tool for evaluation of human-operators shift experience.

Problems of the stochastic system identification are analyzed, which are concerned with application of non-linear measures of dependence of random values and processes. Approaches are considered using a consistent in the A.N. Kolmogorov sense measure of dependence based on quadratic Tsallis mutual information. A constructive procedure of deriving a linear input/output model is proposed, which is a statistical equivalent of a non-linear multi-input/multi-output dynamic stochastic system driven by a Gaussian white-noise process. A keystone of such a procedure is the statistical linearization criterion that is the condition of the component-wise coincidence of quadratic Tsallis mutual information of the system input and output processes, from one hand side, and the input and output processes of the linearized model, from another hand side. This approach enables one to obtain explicit analytical expressions determining coefficients of the weight matrix of the linearized model. Meanwhile, the technique proposed is distribution free and does not require applying restricting assumptions on an explicit analytical form of the joint probability distribution of the system input and output processes, which may degenerate the substantial problem statement at all.

Проведена оценка изменения качества жизни у 235 беременных женщин с помощбю опросника EQ-5D. Результаты анализа проведенного опроса не выявили изменения физической активности. Одновременно наблюдали увеличение доли женщин с изменениями психоэмоциональной сферы. Рассматриваются и предлагаются варианты улучшения психоэмоционального состояния беременных с целью повышения качества жизни.

The paper presents a non-parametric approach to a general model-based scheme of the condition monitoring of a technology process. Within such an approach, the total inference on a technology process status is implemented by current comparing preliminary nominal indicators obtained, which correspond to the nominal technology process model with corresponding characteristics obtained by current observations. A consistent measure of stochastic dependence of random processes is proposed to be used as a technology process behavior indicator. Such a measure is the maximal correlation function. It consistently captures the actual nonlinear dependence between random processes, while conventional measures of dependence based on the dispersion and, all the more so, ordinary product correlation functions do not. Meanwhile, there are known examples demonstrating that actual dependence between model variables may be nonlinear even if the regression of a variable onto another one is linear. Within the case, such dependence can be properly described by maximal correlation ultimately. Such a consideration justifies applying consistent measures of dependence when applied to the model-based condition monitoring methodology.

The paper proposes an approach to activate students’ graduate experience and motivate their cognition abilities in the corresponding field of science in order of preparing to independent research activity. Such activation and motivation are proposed to be implemented via special assignments on analysis of “real”, what means actually published, scientific results in order to find delusions, errors, etc. therein. The pre-sent paper demonstrates ways and methods, both simulation and analytical, to be applied to analyze delusions concerned with various attempts of generalization of conventional techniques and notions relating to such a branch of the control theory as the system identification. The paper presents methods and formulates corresponding assignments to reveal the delusions concerned with information theoretic approaches: application of the mutual (Shannon) information and attempts of generalization of the notion of entropy.

Аннотация
The traffic on a large scale railway corridor is considered, on which cargo freight trains belonging to independent carrier agents’ move. The goal of each agent is to maximize his profit from the transportation of cargo by train. Accordingly, the goal function of agent includes payment received from cargo owners, as well as damage of crash and fines for violation of corridor traffic rules. The optimal guarantee strategy of the agent driving cargo train is constructed ensuring the growth of payment for the transportation with the exclusion of damage. Game of agents on the closed circular large scale railway corridor is considered. Its solution is found in the stationary mode of motion. It is shown that this game solution is Nash equilibrium. Based on the found solution, the characteristics of the corridor such as delivery time and maximum traffic volume are determined. The corresponding characteristics of the Central and North Eurasian railway corridor from China to European Union are estimated.
