In this Chapter, we give some necessary concepts from measure theory and analysis of functions of a real variable, and discuss elements of the theory of linear and nonlinear differential equations with measures: existence and uniqueness of solutions, dependence of solutions on initial conditions and parameters. We believe that the choice of material in this Chapter makes the monograph self-contained. Some fundamental results that are necessary for the understanding of various parts of the text are given directly in the corresponding chapters.
