The paper deals with transformation of solutions of the equation that have a number of
conservation laws. When a dissipative term is added to the equation its conserved quantities decay
at individual rates, that are connected to their generating functions (a phenomenon known as a
selective decay). This allows to study effects of the resulting dissipative transformation of solutions.
In particular, the extremals of the linear combination of conserved quantities are demonstrated to be
closely associated with travelling wave solutions and their transformations.
