Issues in the optimization of the operation of the anti-lock braking system of a vehicle are examined. In or-der to enhance the reliability of system operation, it is proposed to use a brake action distribution system that is adaptive to the quality of the road surface, for rapid stop of the vehicle while maintaining control-lability. A super-high frequency Doppler displacement velocity sensor is included in the system, along with sensors for the angular rotation velocity of the wheels. The use of the specifi ed Doppler sensor has made it possible, by tracking the relation between the angular and linear velocities, to achieve a more precise correspondence of the dependence of the braking force on the degree of wheel connection with the road surface. It was possible with such a method to minimize the braking length of a vehicle while maintaining controllability under various traffi c conditions.
