Abstract: The authors apply Gramian-based methods for investigating bilinear discrete dynamic systems that simulate time varying processes in power industry. The paper offers a new method for calculating the elements of controllability Gram matrix in discrete bilinear systems. These elements are represented as the sums of sequence members calculated at each step. Combined with associative identification models, the method proposed can be used for investigating a wider class of nonlinear systems
