Currently, the gas industry is experiencing significant changes in the production and use of natural gas for domestic needs and industrial processes. In many gas exporting countries, due to a number of economic changes, there has been a trend to reduce the use of natural gas produced from the fields and to switch to other gas sources, in particular biogas and liquefied natural gas, which have a variable composition in contrast to so-called conventional natural gas. But it should be noted that even for conventional natural gas, the composition can vary greatly depending on the field where it is produced. The composition of natural gas is necessary for determining the physicochemical parameter in accordance with the regulatory document. Gas calorific value directly depends on the gas composition and is the main characteristic in determining the cost of natural gas. It can be concluded that the economic efficiency of natural gas use depends on the accuracy of determining its composition. The article is devoted to the study of methods and systems for analyzing the composition and energy parameters of gas - both physical and chemical methods that are currently used in the gas industry, and alternative analytical methods.
