The problem of synthesizing an observer with linear error dynamics for a fourdimensional system with vector output is considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the observer are obtained, and an algorithm for its construction is proposed. An example of constructing an observer for a four-dimensional model of the electrical activity of the heart, which is a system of two coupled van der Pol equations, is considered.
