Nizhni Novgorod is a city in the central Russia, the administrative center of Privolzhsky Federal District and of Nizhny Novgorod Region. The city developed from a fort founded by Grand Duke Yury II in 1221 at the confluence of Volga and Oka rivers. It became an important economic, transportation, scientific, educational and cultural center in Russia, one of the most famous hubs for river cruises in Russia. It is 461 km from Moscow along the most popular tourist route in Russia -- The Trans-Siberian Railway. There are many unique memorial buildings, historical places, and culture attractions in the city. The city’s current transport infrastructure includes a well developed international airport, Strigino, passenger and cargo ports, and one of major railway junctions on Russian railway network.
