Moses Rozenblat, in full Moses Aronovich Rozenblat, Dr. Sci. (Eng.), Professor, and Academician of the Russian Academy of Informatization, was a man of unusual fate.

Rozenblat was born in 1915 in New York City, USA. He began to work for hire at fourteen years old. In 1932, Rozenblat moved to the USSR with his parents. From 1932 to 1936, he was a metalworker and motor mechanic at the Likhachev automobile plant in Moscow. From 1936 to 1941, Rozenblat studied at Military Electrical Engineering Academy and Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, specializing in electrical measuring technology. During the Winter War (the First Soviet—Finnish War), he volunteered for the Army in the field and was awarded a watch engraved with his name. From 1941 to 1944, Rozenblat worked at Moscow and Saratov plants in engineering positions. In 1944, he joined the Institute of Automation and Remote Control, the USSR Academy of Sciences (nowadays, Trapeznikov Institute of Control Sciences, the Russian Academy of Sciences), as a postgraduate student. In 1962, Rozenblat became Head of the Laboratory of Magnetic and Magnet-Semiconductor Devices for Automatic Control Systems and Computer Technology and held the position till 1991. Since 1991, he continued to direct Laboratory R&D work as a chief researcher until the end of his life.

During his work at the Institute, Rozenblat laid structural foundations as well as developed technical implementation principles for magnetic amplifiers and magnetic-semiconductor devices of data acquisition, conversion, processing, and storage for information, automation control, and computing systems. He created the domestic scientific school in this area.

Rozenblat’s results were presented in his numerous scientific papers, inventions, and monographs. Many were translated into foreign languages. His monographs became desk books for experts in technical means and hardware for information, control, and computing systems.
