For predictive control algorithms based on typical linear controllers, exact and approximate methods for calculating optimal tunings are put forward. Optimally-tuned predictive algorithms are shown as being capable of markedly increasing the control quality and simultaneously of more fully implementing capabilities of microprocessor devices.
